December 9th has come and gone, and so has all my energy and get up and go, but it has been worth every minute of it. The 2008 edition of Simi Community Christmas has come and gone, but the memories will continue in my brain, and will probably keep waking me up night after night until we have a post-event meeting and talk about everything.
The live nativity (Photo at left, with the Nathan Moffet family) was the first thing that greeted our guests, and their sweet smiles set the tone for the rest of the visit. The grand hall was filled with 378 nativities from all over the world displayed on lush velvets, satins, and accented with everything from small smooth stones and sand to glittering crystals and lush greenery. It was truly 'eye candy' to behold
At the same time, the most wonderful music was continually flowing from the chapel where our performers, over 260 in all, filled the air with the music of Christmas. I even sang, and it was pretty darned good according to our wonderful sound man, Bob Adams. We enjoyed everything from Middle School bands playing the Star Spangled Banner and Christmas songs , to ethereal harp music, and from opera singers to a marvelous jazz group with Jacquelyn Levy, vocalist, who worked her way right into our hearts with her songs from the soul. All of the musical performances repeated over and over again the spirit of Christmas and the love we have for our Savior Jesus Christ.
On the last day of our event, KCAL 9 news (CBS 2 also) came to Simi Valley, and Leila Jones, our event coordinator and I were interviewed as the beautiful nativities were being shown. We made it on the 2 PM news on KCAL 9 and the 5 PM news on CBS 2. Catch our interviews by Amy Johnson by clicking here.
There were 2300+ guests for this, our first year of our expanded program, and we were thrilled. We are already looking forward to next year.

It looked fantastic! If you do it again, maybe we can arrange a visit.
Bravo! Loved your sound bite on KCAL. It made me very nostalgic to see the cultural hall and the piano on the stand in the tv shot. Sure wish I could have been there for any part of that weekend. I sure can't wait to see you on the 26th!!!
